Lost his leg to diabetes last year. Told recently that he has cancer. Benefits being determined.

“They always make you wait.” Cannot live on $200 food stamps.

“I think differently. I don’t think right…. But I am clean and sober.”

Sitting in front of City Hall, he wished every passerby a “happy bird day.”

Shopping Carts on Church Street Sunday Morning

Weather uncertain. Could rain. Or it could just be raw. At least one of these men has a place to live. The other two carry their worldly possessions around in a shopping cart. Now I do realize that over 2,000,000 shopping carts are stolen every year, worldwide, creating a terrible problem for storeowners and adding to the cost of anything we buy at a store that employs them. But, I would hesitate before depriving the people who use them of a vehicle that has no carbon footprint and allows them to have their property nearby, protected from the elements as much as someone with no place to live can expect to have.

Sunday Around The Park In Burlington

A little early for Nicole.

Jimmy told Richard, “you are too drunk, too early.”

Rouche styling.  Labels. Signs. Haircut.

Keith put on this red chapeau for a trip to the tobacco store.

“No crying on Church St,” a passerby said.

Maybe Greg likes Rick Perry?

Katie Mourns in Her Way

So, her Mom died yesterday morning, a day she lived as a runaway. Strong to a fault. Concerned about her looks. Knowledgeable about her friends, she sought support from those whom she could relate to.

Katie rejected her family, because if she saw them all she could do is cry, and what do they know about her? They failed her in one way or the other. Who knows? Her mother’s twin is her foster mom.  How complicated is that?

Yet, despite these facts, she felt her Mother loved her; visiting Mom shortly before the death, they had a conversation: “I told her that I loved her and I would do everything I can to live a better life, until I move to the higher ground.” Not sure this is exactly what she said, but it be close.
