Matt Lives

Battling the big C can take work. Have to deal with the fragility of life and the unknowns of genetics. Then they cut out the cancer, insert poison to kill what’s left, and expect you to just move along.

Matt never asked why him. Doesn’t like handouts. Used to work for McKenzie’s. Deals with what he’s been dealt. Know a lot about a lot. Has family and friends. Couldn’t afford Suffolk County, NY. Actually, not many can anymore. And, where he came from, Orient Point, they turned the potato fields into vinyards.

“Hey, look at all those guys and women who didn’t make it. Don’t matter what your bank book looks like or whether or not you have fame. Lots of important people couldn’t be saved. I ain’t complaining.”

“Where did you stay last night?”

“Out and around.”
